Who?
S’phongo is a Zimbabwean DJ, producer, and spoken word artist based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. For more than a decade he has been creating spaces for African artists to perform, connect, and be heard.
His work lives at the crossing point between sound and voice, between the club and the community. As a DJ and producer, his sets move between Afrohouse, deep groove, and ancestral rhythms. The spoken word is not separate from the music. It is part of it.
Since 2013 he has built stages across the continent: open mics and spoken word events in Zimbabwe, Jabulani Music in Freetown, and Inkundla Spaces, the organisation he founded in 2023 to give artists infrastructure, not just opportunity. He is also a partner at THOA, the Afro-Continental events brand.
A seven-time poetry slam champion, S’phongo has performed across eight countries: Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Zambia, Italy, France, Belgium, and the UK.

The Poetry
Seven-time international slam champion. Author. Filmmaker. From the village to international stages.
Started writing in Bulawayo, 2013. By 2018, running open mic series in Harare. By 2022, stages in Italy, France, Belgium, Ivory Coast — slam titles on three continents. The storytelling never stopped. It moved into the sets, the events, the spaces.
